Membership FAQ

Do I need to buy gear to be a member?
Not right away. Loaner equipment is available at no extra charge for all members. We recommend training with club gear for the first several months before purchasing your own — you'll have a much better sense of what fits you and what you actually need.
Can I train in both disciplines as a member?
Monthly members train in one discipline. Annual members have access to all disciplines. If you want to cross-train on a monthly membership, talk to the instructor — we can work something out.
What is the HEMA Alliance membership?
The HEMA Alliance is the primary organizational body for HEMA in North America. Membership provides liability coverage for training and access to sanctioned tournaments and events. It's included with all NHFA memberships at no additional cost.
How do I cancel or pause my membership?
Monthly memberships can be cancelled with 30 days written notice. Annual memberships are non-refundable but can be paused for documented medical reasons. Contact us to discuss your situation.
Are there any discounts available?
Contact us to ask — we handle student and financial hardship situations on a case-by-case basis. We'd rather have you training than not training.
